July Update

Summer seems like it's flying by, I can't believe July is coming to a close already. I wish summers didn't have to end!

July has been a month with no travelling or flying for conventions (I got rejected from Narcon this year... devastated about it!!) but I've still been super hard at work! I have a lot to do to prepare for ANYC, my first convention in the USA!

    TYVN Jam

You may have already read my previous post about our Toxic Yuri VN Jam entry! It currently has close to 700 downloads and a lot of really lovely comments which I need to get around to responding to. Thank you!! I'm so happy so many people enjoyed it!

My team was so amazing to work with. I'm also so happy to have my first credit on VNDB woo!! Hoping my SECOND ever credit on VNDB will be coming very soon...

If you haven't played our VN yet, you can do so for free here!

    DCAF

On 12th July, myself and my gf attended Dublin Comics Art Fest in Dublin! It's a small press comics event that happens four times a year. I don't normally go to it unless I have a new comic or something, but since our schedule was so free this month we decided why not.

Unfortunately, the previous venue for DCAF, The Complex, has shut down and it was instead in a different venue. But the venue was a little bit of a problem... Our original table was at the very back of a pub beside an open door which led to outside. There were no chairs, only couches from the pub which we had to sit on. And the table wasn't directly in front of the couch too... idk how to explain it but it was a strange set up haha. Across from us, there was a table with a large curved sofa behind it. The artist who had that table had a disability and was a cane user, and was unable to get in behind the booth as there was no space. You had to like. Climb over the chairs to get in and out from behind the table. So I offered to swap places with them, since our original table was more accessible and climbing on top of the chair wouldn't be a problem for me and my gf.

We had to get up at 5am to get a 6am bus to Dublin to be there to set up, and we were already tired, but this kinda drained us even more hahaha. I didn't get to walk around the event and check it out because it was just too much of a hassle getting in and out from behind the table, but the customers we had were really lovely and I was really surprised to sell out of my Ooe doujin.

I know it isn't the event's fault - trying to host a free event in Dublin is impossible. The city is so hostile towards the people who live there, hosting events is difficult enough as is, but trying to host a free community event? The city is just working against you. It's awful, it really sucks.

And maybe it was partially our fault, since we requested to be sat as far away as possible from the artist who posted myself and my friends on Lolcow and made transphobic remarks about a friend. They ended up sat in a bit of a nicer area with a normal table and chair, at the opposite end of the building. So maybe if I hadn't asked to be far away I'd end up in that room too. But still, tabling there was really uncomfortable this time around, and I don't think I'll go back until the event finds a better venue. Really hoping that something works out!!

selling yaoi in the pub lol. dinner afterwards tasted so good...

Adelta Fandom Summer Swap & Adelta Mini Bang

This year I took part in the Adelta Fandom Summer Swap and the Adelta Mini Bang! These were my pieces for each event.
My gift was for @panpanpann003 on twitter! it was my first time properly drawing Daiba... I need to draw him more!!

And this was the lovely gift I received from komacave on twitter!

    Shop Re-Opening and New Merch

Since I had so little travelling to do this month, I re-opened my shop and added all the new stuff I've made over the past couple of months!

I'm actually closing my shop again tomorrow since it's coming up to crunch time for ANYC, but here are some of my new items!

Lots of Ooe, as you can see... I need to take a break from drawing Ooe stuff because people don't buy it at cons here or in the UK but I loooovee drawing themmm T___T

I think my favourite new products are the Saya and Ooe maid sticker sheets and the Vocaloid badges. The glitter and cyber cigil foil on the badges looks so cool! I definitely want to make more in this style!

    See you soon, ANYC!

Next month, I'll be heading to New York to attend ANYC for the first time ever! It will be my first time ever attending an event in the USA, I'm realy excited about it, but also pretty nervous. I've been to America once before, back in 2002 I went to New York. But I was really really young so I don't remember it very much at all. The only thing I really remember is that milk tasted disgusting over there, I went to the Toys 'r Us in Times Square and rode the ferris wheel, and I went to see the Statue of Liberty. And I ate a hot dog.

Stamp rallies aren't allowed at ANYC, but instead some of us are organising an Ooe anthalogy doujin together! Each artist will be drawing a doujin comic with a different Ooe pairing. I'm drawing OoShin of course hehe. Very excited about it!! I'm really crunching to get it done rn.

    little preview of my doujin!

It's going to be shorter and less detailed than my other doujin since my deadline is tighter and I have a big workload for ANYC even aside from this, but it's turning out cute and I'm excited to see it alongside everyone else's work.

we made bonus stickers for the doujin too! here's a peek at mine!

I'm really excited to explore New York! We have 3 days before the convention to explore the city, I can't wait. I want to eat lots of food in Flushing and Chinatown... But I also want to try lots of evil American fast food. My sister's boyfriend is American and says the branches they have here just don't compare to in the states. Everyone I know who's ever been to America has gotten badly constipated while there too so I need to prepare for poop problems. Much to do!

    Personal

Since I haven't been travelling much this month, most of my news is that I've been watching movies. I have been continuing to watch UtaPri with my gf and have been having the time of my life.

I watched Face/Off for the first time ever with my friends and was absolutely blown away. I didn't know anything about the plot going into it. You know the episode of NTBTS where Matt is watching Star Wars for the first time?? That's how I felt watching Face/Off. What a rollercoaster. I was screaming during it I had so much fun watching it in a group with my friends!! I can't believe I had never watched it until now!

I also FINALLY got to see the NTBTS movie in the cinema!! I saw it three seperate times with different people lol. People kept asking me to see it with them and I couldn't possibly say no... It was even better the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th time.

I also went to Belfast's first ever Dyke March! When it comes to political movements, dykes are always on the frontlines. It was inspiring listening to lesbian sex workers, immigrants, and trans women giving speeches. Proud of everyone for their bravery and hard work!

    photodump from this month!

    Rest in Peace Rigby ♡

I also want to post about my beloved dog, Rigby, who passed away just yesterday. He was so young, just close to 7 years old. He was a cross between an Irish Setter and a Golden Retriever and was the most difficult dog I ever trained, but he had such a big personality. He mellowed out so much over the years and was such a good boy. If you were having a conversation with someone, he would always look at whoever was speaking as if he was listening in on the conversation and could understand you completely. I always thought that he would open his mouth and start talking himself, if he could. My siblings and I always joked that he was more like our little brother than our pet. He would open doors like a human, standing on his back legs, curling his paw around the handle, and pulling them open. There were times where he would just decide to open the front door and walk out of the house, and he would make us chase him to get him back inside off the road. He loved going to the pub, napping by your side, and running around on the beach. He's going to be missed by me, his family, his two cat besties Mocha and Wybie, and his sausage dog cousin Nico.
